The first month of 2026 has already rewritten the Global Capability Center story.
In just five weeks we have seen:
• Apple enter Chennai
• L’Oréal build the world’s first beauty tech hub in Hyderabad
• Western Union launch an AI led transformation centre
• Google plan a massive Bangalore expansion
• New healthcare, fintech and retail GCCs announced almost weekly
• Governments introduce policy incentives and tax clarity
What is striking is not the volume of announcements. It is the nature of the work.
These centres are no longer supporting global headquarters. They are becoming part of global headquarters. AI engineering, digital platforms, research, cybersecurity, analytics and product development are now being built from GCCs.
Our January–February 2026 GCC Voices Roundup compiles the major announcements, leadership changes, policy developments and emerging trends including the rise of Nano GCCs and Tier 2 city expansion.
